part 1 of my answer ! I dunno, I hope this is some help or whatever, or at least a goof startpoint for people to debate over the differences between comics and animation ? :) it’s still a good time for you to go check out my comics wwebsite haha

Reblogging, because very very close to my own experience.

THEY’RE JUST REFERRED TO AS GIRLFRIENDS MULTIPLE TIMES IN-SHOW. THEY ONLY GET REINCARNATED MULTIPLE TIMES TO BE TOGETHER, AND THEIR REINCARNATIONS ONLY GET KISS A BUNCH AND GET MARRIED. Y’KNOW. REGULAR OLD FRIENDSHIP STUFF.

I DO THAT WILL ALL MY FRIENDS.

Is xena and that girl actually gay or is it queer baiting?
Anonymous

XENA AND GABRIELLE? OH NO THEY’RE JUST SOULMATES AND SAY IT A BAZILLION TIMES THEMSELVES IN THE SHOW. NOT GAY AT ALL.

Some call me … Tim.

OMG OKAY THIS IS GOLD. The pallas cat at my local zoo apparently does this, and there’s a little sort of kid-level viewing window into its habitat, and the keeper in that area told me that the pallas cat likes to hide beneath the window. So when the kids press their faces up to the glass, searching the exhibit for the animal, the pallas cat suddenly pops up directly in front of their faces and scares the ever-loving shit out of them. Pallas cat: recreationally scares children. Tell your friends.

I AM FREAKING CRYIN’

IT GOT BETTER

I can do that

2nd shot of a Roomie Coca-Cola. I personally can’t drink that (except with rum), but it’s still neat to see :)

Hey, Chloé! I just want to thank you for the big load of inspiration I get from reading GoGetARoomie! I'm writing a story (maybe a book) and WOC's monologues and lessons inspire me a lot. however, the line "[...] being normal doesn't mean much, being happy does" from 06-27-2014's comic was life changing to me personally. Where do you find these wisdoms?

Personal experience. I am lucky enough to have lived a wonderful life full of love and tolerance (and a bit of madness to keep sane), and want to spread it as much as I can.

Good luck with your story!!

The Little Mermaid TV Series: Gabriella

Remember when Disney had a cute, disabled, poc mermaid?

When i was younger, one of my best friends was a deaf guyanese girl, and her fave princess was Ariel, mainly bc she related to her living without a voice (and her love of swimming)

When this episode aired, she cried and squawked and made sounds that were almost understandable… She saw herself as a mermaid, on tv, with her favourite character of all time

Representation matters, always, no matter what

okay it’s hella cool and they actually animated real ASL they didn’t just bullshit it oh mAN THIS IS LEGIT SIGN LANGUAGE AND IT’S ACTUALLY AWESOME A+++++++

Then again… concerning the “negative” comment on the Thor being a woman thing…

I remember years ago, there was a rumor that they were going to make a black Batman. Change the whole physical appearance of our beloved Bruce Wayne. And I remember being opposed because “YOU CAN’T CHANGE BATMAN. HE’S BATMAN. OKAY.”

I’ve changed since then in the way I see iconic characters, and the way we can change them for a better representation, but I won’t deny being one of those people who had that stubborn mindset that did not look up to change. Now I like to think I know better.

Trust in change. Trust in people changing for the better.

An awful great many of our beloved characters were created in a time where to be anything but a white male or different from the perceived norm was a highly negative experience and the fledgling comic industry probably needed that to flourish as it has to become what it is now, a powerful voice for those opinions that challenge the perceived norm. They can now think about representing reality.

Trust in change. Trust in people changing for the better.

Sir Nicholas Winton is a humanitarian who organized a rescue operation that saved the lives of 669 Jewish Czechoslovakia children from Nazi death camps, and brought them to the safety of Great Britain between the years 1938-1939.

After the war, his efforts remained unknown. But in 1988, Winton’s wife Grete found the scrapbook from 1939 with the complete list of children’s names and photos. Sir Nicholas Winton is sitting in an audience of Jewish Czechoslovakian people who he saved 50 years before.

Sometimes I read something that really astounds me in its golden absurdity, and I really really really want to pick it up and laugh at it publicly.

But I don’t. Because I don’t believe in laughing in someone’s face.

But MAN DO I WANT TO SOMETIMES.

Not sure if you heard, but in addition to making Thor a woman now (which I'm very much looking forward to, I love the writer Jason Aaron) they announced last night Sam Wilson, an African American hero currently going by the name Falcon, is going to take the mantle of Captain America later this year!

Marvel doing it right.

Howdy chloe. I myself am an Illustrator wannabe and for many years was the only thing I could think about. Then I got to art collage and everithing changed. In there all they teach is to be so theorical about everything. All has to be political or social critisism and shit like that. I'm midway in the career and I'm feeling quite blue about the illustration (and art) yet scares me to leave collage or try to work on it.... Suddenly I forgot where I was going with this.

Okay, let me tell you something you want to hear, and is actually true in my opinion:

This is just a passage. School will most probably go into theoretical stuff because that’s what a lot of schools do. It can seem like art is JUST that at this moment, boring, square stuff. But it’s not. Or else it wouldn’t be called art.

As a professional artist, I can assure you that art does not need to go through politics, or social criticism to be art. Do you know of my comic Go Get a Roomie? Yeah. Boobs. Not politics.

Art is what you make of it. Don’t get trapped in a specific image of what teachers may want to screw inside your head. Live art as you want to live it. Take what you can from school teaching, because it can still be interesting on certain levels, and get the hell out of there to do your own thing.

cue the bllions of fanboy tears

I like it

"It’s currently unclear who exactly is filling the role of Thor going forward, as the original character wasn’t gender-swapped."

No longer is the classic male hero able to hold the mighty hammer, Mjölnir, a brand new female hero will emerge will who will be worthy of the name THOR.

"And this new Thor isn’t a temporary female substitute – she’s now the one and only Thor, and she is worthy!" "

" "This is not She-Thor. This is not Lady Thor. This is not Thorita. This is THOR. This is the THOR of the Marvel Universe."

meanwhile DC’s like “we love ubisoft”

YES

do you know how many sad fanboy comments i read whining about how this messes up the mythology omg i just wanna roll in them this is so golden
making asgard a floating island in space is a-ok but oh my gosh dONT YOU TAKE AWAY DAT PENIS

This is pretty fuckin cool

Well at least it’ll be an easy point to start reading from if you’re new. It’s a pain in the ass finding somewhere to start from all the old stuff

Is this really happening?? You go Marvel.
